Do you love Rats? Well, you’re in the right place.

Rats are highly intelligent, active and friendly animals that deserve every chance of a full and happy life. Here at RatsRatsRats.com we love our ratties and think that if rat owners put a bit of effort into every day with their pet rat they can enjoy the same bond that others may find with a dog.

Make sure you check out our Rat Stuff Store, where you can get everything you need for your pet rats, along with rat related gifts and products!

Did you know that you can train your rat? If you don’t know how to go about it, we will show you how.

Remember before you buy your new friend that rats are a commitment and can live from 2-4 years. They are also very sociable creatures and love the company of people and other rats (with careful introduction). Think about it carefully, otherwise you will have a very bored fuzzball on your hands and that can lead to bad behavior.

Lots of rescue centres have ratties that are just crying (or squeaking) out for a new home and with a bit of help from RatsRatsRats.com it won’t be hard to find your perfect rat match.

I have been a rat owner for 7 years; I have 2 female ratties right now “Remi & Toule” and I absolutely love them. They are almost 2 yrs old and Toule is developing lumps under her left arm. I fear they are cancer but she’s doing well and has no change in character and seems active as ever so I hope she will be around for awhile longer. She is outgoing and runs to me to pick her up every time I open the cage. Remi is shy. Both ratties are intelligent and enjoy the best of environment, food and attention. They are the best little critters you could ever own for a pet and bring so much pleasure to my life every day.

Your rats sound adorable. I am sorry to hear that little Toule is developing lumps. My rat Ginger also had the same problem, but the vet didn’t feel she would cope with an operation to remove the lump. Although the lump grew rather large, Ginger coped very well.
Near the end of her life I helped her groom areas she couldn’t reach and nursed her as well as I could. She also had antibiotics, which helped her a lot. So don’t stress too much that your rat has lumps. She probably has a long life ahead of her yet.
Still, I wish that rats weren’t as prone to tumors. The good news is that tumors in females are usually benign. Despite their health problems, I agree with you that rats are wonderful pets.

    hi
i was wondering if i could get a little help. i have 2 beautiful rats, 99 and missy.
when i went to go give them a pat yesterday, and take them out for a play, i noticed 99 had a fresh bite mark just behind her nose, but before her eyes. it’s a big bite mark, and i dont know what to do. i have bathed it in salt water, and given her some anti biotics, so it doesnt get infected, but i dont know how to punnish missy so she doesnt do it again. i would separater them, but i dont have another cage, and missy doesnt cope well with change.
so what should i do? and am i doing the right things to help 99′s bite?

    Hi Sammi,

It sounds like you are caring for 99 very well. Female rats can sometimes be more territorial when they are heat (every few days), but there are a few things you can do to help stop them biting one another. Check out this article on rat aggression for tips http://www.ratsratsrats.com/95/pet-rat-aggression/

Make sure there are separate areas where they can sleep and that you have 2 separate food bowls.

    Good Luck x
