How to keep your little friend in peak health and what to do when illness strikes.

If you keep your pets in a clean rat cage, with toys to prevent boredom, a companion rat, free-range time and a reasonably healthy diet your rat should have a happy, healthy life. It is however, very important to check your rat every day for signs of illness, or any lumps and bumps.

Female rats are especially susceptible to tumors and male rats can sometimes get these as well, so if you find a lump on your rat it is important to take him to the vets as soon as you can.

Oh by the way…mobile phones have been proven to hurt ratties’ brains. The brain cells are killed when the mobile phone waves cause the protective barrier in rats brains to leak, permitting blood proteins that are normally kept away from the brain tissue to contact the neurons. I know, I know, it all sounds like gobble- de-gook, but just give it a thought and maybe keep your phone in a different room than your rats.
