Prevue Rat and Chinchilla Cage

The thing I really like about this cage is that the space between the wire is very small, perfect for even small rats. I have seen some amazing ferret cages, that I just wish were suitable for rats, but the wire is too far apart and the crafty rats will squeeze through.
The Prevue rat cage is large, sturdy, easy to clean out and easy to move around if you need to. The cage comes with an optional grate on the bottom, but I feel this is essential as otherwise the black tray may sag. It is simple to cover the bars along the bottom with some newspaper to stop your rat’s feet getting sore. In fact this makes it easy to clean.
I also like that this cage has storage underneath, as it is the perfect place to keep my pet rat’s stuff, like food and treats. For around$125 I think this rat cage is excellent value and with a few snuggly things like hammocks and tunnels, will make a wonderful home for your rats.
The only downside is that the cage is not as simple to put together as I would like. Then again, I am not very handy and neither is my husband and I still managed in the end. It just took a little effort. If you are good at DIY you will have no problem.

This sounds like a great cage for multiple rats! Just one thing…does it have plastic or wire on the base of the upper levels???

It has wire flooring, so the best thing to do is use sheets of newspaper (ideally unprinted) and lay it over the floor. This will make the floor much kinder to your rats’ feet and will be easy to clean too. You can just take out the old paper and replace it with fresh.
