NSW Rodent Rescue

My very first rats were Ginger and Mr T (pictured above). I was working at the RSPCA at the time and these little critters were going to be put down for being too old. I adopted them and they lived another year and a half and we had a wonderful time together. They were so in love, Mr T died just a week after Ginger, despite being totally healthy before. I believe he was heart broken. If they had been put down when they arrived at the RSPCA they would have missed out on a wonderful life of cuddles, snuggles, treats and exploring.

Unwanted rats deserve a second chance and sadly they are not always given this when surrendered to pounds or the RSPCA. Other unwanted rodents,  are given away as snake food. That’s why I have decided to start the NSW Rodent Rescue to help those rats and mice (yes mice deserve love and compassion too) that are in need of new homes in New South Wales, Australia.

Other than my resident ratties Pea and Mingles (who are in their forever home with me), rescued rats will be taken in from death row at pounds, vets or kill shelters and given plenty of love, care and attention (plus any necessary veterinary treatment) and then placed into loving homes.

I am based on the Central Coast NSW, but rescue and rehoming can be arranged in other areas of the state.

If you would like more information on the NSW Rodent Rescue, need to surrender an animal or if you feel you could offer a wonderful, forever home please contact me by filling out the form below or calling me (Catherine) on 0457 394 903

Note: Although we do not always have rodents available for adoption if you feel you could offer a great home to some rescued rodents I would love to hear from you. Please do not be offended when I ask you lots of questions :-) it is to make sure I am not speaking to someone who wants rodents as snake food, or as disposable pets. That is also the reason I ask for a small donation when re-homing. Giving away rodents (even to people who seem really great) is too risky. There are people out there who want rats and mice to feed to reptiles or to test on in laboratories and that sucks.
